Steve Zakrzewski, JD

Attorney, Gordon & Rees – Steve is an associate in the Hartford offices of Gordon & Rees. His practice areas include Tort & Product Liability, Professional Liability Defense and Insurance—focusing on defending businesses in complex and high exposure cases, and representing insurers in coverage disputes. His product liability defense experience includes defending manufacturers of medical devices, automotive products and construction products. In the professional liability context, he has defended real estate professionals, insurance professionals and attorneys. He also regularly represents insurers in declaratory judgment actions and in defense of bad faith claims.

In his capacity at Gordon & Rees, Steve and his colleagues have provided pro bono legal services to Arts For Learning Connecticut—exemplary of the hands-on nature of AFLCT Board Service.

Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Steve worked as a civil litigation associate for a prominent downtown Hartford firm, where he regularly defended insurers and policy-holders against actions arising from commercial general liability, homeowners, motor vehicle, liquor liability, employment practices and real estate title insurance policies. He also has significant experience litigating commercial disputes, and has consistently generated positive outcomes for clients in both state and federal court, as well as in mediation and arbitration.

Steve earned his JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law as a Dean’s Scholar—graduating with honors and recognition for several other scholastic achievements. Prior to attending UCONN Law, he earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting from UCONN’s School of Business, where he was a Barton Family Business Scholar, while working on the audit team for the largest regional accounting firm in New England.
