Matthew James, MBA
Manager, Claim Finance, Travelers Insurance Company – Matthew puts his financial acumen to work on behalf of the Property Claim Center at Travelers. Among other things, he is responsible for working with claim leadership to determine the annual budget, quantify project costs and conduct competitor analysis—as well as financial modeling, reporting, and identifying and deciphering trends.
Matthew brings his financial background, military and business experience to AFLCT’s Finance Committee.
Matthew enjoys teaching, having recently instituted a departmental training program—and is studying to become a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
Previously, Matthew commissioned into the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer, serving as a division officer aboard the USS Port Royal (CG-73)—homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He also spent three years working with his family’s apparel company before entering the insurance industry, and is a member of the Hartford Rotary Club.
A resident of Manchester, CT, Matthew graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, then earned his MBA from North Carolina State University. He is also an Eagle Scout.
