About the Artist
Jay Cady and Leslie Seifert-Cady have given over 6000 performances in 36 states and 7 foreign countries. They met as members of a performance company in Kansas City, which is still their home. They were married in 1984, the same year they studied mime with Marcel Marceau. As their own children went through school, they developed curriculum-rich performances and workshops for elementary school students. They use circus and vaudeville skills like juggling, mime, magic, and improvisation to teach math, reading, science, and civics. In 2010 they were awarded the Lighton Prize for Excellence as Teaching Artists by Kansas City Young Audiences. They research their topics and core standards thoroughly to coordinate with what schools are teaching. Their timing has been honed from many years of working together, and their irresistible sense of fun brings out the love of learning in their audiences.
