Arts for Learning Connecticut is proud to announce the Teaching Artist of the Year for 2015 is Eshu Bumpus!
Eshu is an active Teaching Artist for the past 18 years with Arts for Learning Connecticut. His storytelling that focuses on folktales and writing workshops are well known throughout the state in schools, libraries and community centers!
Eshu brings participatory stories and music to children that many children still remember and sing as young adults. Eshu’s residencies are in big demand in the schools and change the way children develop stories and learn to write. In addition, his family engagement workshops encourage storytelling among intergenerational groups.
Eshu is an active participant in the Summer Institute for Arts Integration where teachers learn to incorporate the arts into their classroom teaching.
Eshu has traveled throughout the United States and to Africa and China to bring more folktales to the children here in Connecticut.
